Finally, I found time
to update my blog about my Coron, Palawan getaway sometime last month (June
15-17, specifically!). I already posted about the place where we stayed. Indeed,
a hotel review about Asia Grand View Hotel is already up and running on this
blog. If you haven’t read it yet, please click here and be mesmerize of the
place. I, myself, would love to just stay in the room and spend some time to
explore and take the chance to use its amenities. However, Coron, Palawan
getaway would not be complete without doing the island hopping, yes?! Well, for
the first timer like me, I know, I should go out and explore the wonders of
Palawan on which I’m lucky enough because Asia Grand View Hotel also offer
tours at a very affordable prices.
More so, we arrived
just in time for lunch in Busuanga Airport. Thus, we headed straight to our
hotel, had a sumptuous lunch, checked-in and freshened up – prepped up for water
adventure that lies ahead on us – and voila, we’re off to island hopping. Based
on our itinerary we’re off to Kayangan
Lake, CYC Island, and Twin Lagoon and will do some relaxing
at Maquinit HotSpring Resort at
around 6pm. However, weather and time did not permit us to do what was planned
but nevertheless, everything was an awesome and wonderful adventure.
Our motor boat which
is a medium size and can accommodate for likely 20-25 persons was waiting for
us at around 3pm at the Port of Coron. Everyone was so excited to explore Coron
Island as we already picture out those photos that we’ve seen in postcards. Oh,
how lovely Philippines is! Port of Coron already welcomed us with a picturesque
view that deserves an “ohhh” and “ahhh” from us. Yeah, I, myself, was already
captured by its beauty.
Kayangan Lake is 30
minutes away from Port of Coron via motorized boat. It was gloomy and low tide
when we docked to Kayangan Bay but the gorgeous lagoon with corals and
turquoise waters kept us at awed. There was also a small hut where the Tagbanua tribe and staff were present to
give us information and answer all the question that we have in mind regarding
the island.
You will also see a
narrow path on the left most of the island, it is the trail to Kayangan Lake.
Now, the one hundred fifty steps back and forth begins. The path is a bit slippery
when wet that’s why one should be extra careful. When you get on top, you will
have a stunning view of Kayangan Bay. It is the perfect location where you can
see the whole area – lush green mountains, limestone, the clear turquoise water.
A small cave is also found here. After some photo ops, you have to go down for
you to see the breath taking view of Kayangan Lake. Reminder, extra careful as
you go down because of the steep steps going down and it is slippery.
Kayangan Lake is the
cleanest lake in the Philippines and in Asia. It is composed of 60% salt water and
40% fresh water which is also one of the main attraction and “must go to” destination
to the tourist when in Coron, Palawan, PH. Here, you can swim and snorkel on
the clear blue water, and enter to the small cave located on the rightmost of
the lake. Or, ride a raft and sail around the lake. Well, if we have enough
time, most of us, would love to stay a bit longer and just swim and embrace its
exquisiteness. Or perhaps, just savor the good aura of the place and enjoy its
majesty.
Another reminder
though, bring insect repellant if you have sensitive skin because mosquitoes and
some insects are just around the corner.
