I’ve been sick for days but couldn’t help it but to be productive, at least! Got tons of pending blog posts from previous getaways and ‘now’ is the perfect timing to make up on it. I frequently visited La Union for many reasons – surfing, chill-out, do nothing with friends and food tripping! If you’re up for an adventure then, San Juan, La Union is for you! Meanwhile, here’s a quick guide to San Juan, La Union, PH.
Stay.
Normi2’s
Beachfront Resort is located at Brgy. Taboc Bridge, San Juan, La Union not
ideal if you’re up for surfing activity. This beachfront resort is quite far
from where the surfing action is but it is ideal for family getaways that just
wanted to breath fresh air.
Fatwave Surf
Resort is located
at Brgy. Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union. A beachfront resort perfect for those who
loves surfing at day and partying at night. A cheap air-condition room but
gives a decent accommodation. So, if the budget is tight or you want to spend
your moolah on food or other things then, Fatwave Surf Resort is ideal for you
and your barkada.
Thurderbird Resort Poro Point, experience a santorini vibe at La Union by staying at this 65-hectare Mediterranean-inspired premier integrated resort in La Union. We had a luxurious stay, the breakfast was good, sunset was picturesque and the ambiance was super relaxing.

Eat & Drink.
We just randomly ate on the restaurants that we passed by
nearby. Everything tasted good and affordable. If you want seafoods, I would suggest going to
the wet market so you can score cheap and affordable prawns, fish,
squids on which you can grill at the beachside just like we did.
See & Do.
Surf. Surf. And. Lots of surfing. A trainer and a rent
for a surf board cost at Php 400.00/hour. Trekking to Tangadan Falls, a 340-minute drive from
San Juan where you can have cliff diving. Prepare yourself for an hour trekking
though. The cold water of the falls was worth the 2-hour trek (plus photo ops along the way).
Souvenirs.
At San Fernando Market, there are a lot of thrift shops.
And souvenir items such as keychains, ref magnets and delicacies.
Good to know.
Immense yourself in their culture and day-to-day living.
Foods are worth to be discovered and tasted because everything they sell is delicious and affordable.
Make new friends.
How to get there.
Getting to
La Union from Manila is really easy and tourist friendly. The easiest way is to
take the bus from Manila to San Juan, it is only a 6 to 7-hour ride depending
on traffic and whether you leave day or night. As for me, I love travelling at
night to get enough sleep and energy needed when I arrive at the surfing haven.
From Manila
(Via Bus)
Take any bus bound for Laoag, Vigan, Abra, Ilocos Sur & San Fernando, La Union. Make sure to let the conductor know to drop you off at Brgy. Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union.
