Yesterday, The Block, SM North Edsa unveiled the Year of the Water Dragon theme in celebration of the Chinese New Year.
That was the first time I’ve seen a grandest celebration for Chinese New Year. Chris Tiu narrated the story behind the festive celebration of the Chinese New Year as well as the Chinese culture and we were just like kids that astounded by Chris Tiu’s storytelling. And of course to make the story quite close to reality, Richard Yap (also known as Mr. Chen Sy of My Binondo Girl) acted as an emperor.
In between Chris Tiu’s storytelling there were performances related to the Chinese Culture during the said event. The Chinese Symphony Orchestra showcased their beautiful voices.
And the drumbeats that really make the demons spirit vanished forever.
As the celebration goes on, an exciting and thrilling Wushu exhibition performed by the Philippine Ling Nam Athletic Federation was witnessed.
Lion Dance...
Dragon Dance...
For Grand Finale, Confetti and Fireworks (recorded sound of fireworks)!
And to those who missed the event you still have until January 29, 2012 to catch up with Chinese culture because there will be a series of activities and exhibits. For more details kindly see the poster below.
