I’ve never been to a place outside Philippines
not that I don’t have any plans yet but it is just that time does not permit
to. I remember booking in one of my dreamland but the trip was cancelled due to
certain issues but then I don’t regret it maybe, perhaps, someday, I’ll be in a
better place like Singapore! Well, we’re already planning because relatives
from Australia will be having their vacation there so they’d suggested that it
could be a happy vacation if we could meet them up there. Oh well, I am already
looking for cheap airfare! Anyhow, ask any person who’s been to Singapore what
they love most about the country and the answer will most likely be one of
three things: the food, the shopping, or the attractions. While all are
valid in their own right, these reasons are only the tip of the iceberg.
Meanwhile, I also attended an event sometime
last month, dubbed as Best Weekend Ever
by Singapore Tourism Board, held at 71
Gramercy hosted by
Rovilson Fernandez. It was a night full of fun, adventure and knowledge.
Knowing what Singapore has to offer to us, tourist. We also had a chance to
taste Singapore’s finest cocktails. It was like a night of being in Singapore!
Known as the home of underground
shopping malls, Michelin-star and celebrity-chef restaurants, architectural
wonders, and some of the first, newest or biggest attractions in the world,
Singapore is also a country that offers visitors just as many options
after dark as it does when the sun is up. Whether it’s grooving to
the beats at one of the many world prestige clubs or downing designer shots
and bespoke cocktails at hidden bars, guests will find a vast
range of options to keep them coming back for more. Singapore promises a
night to remember for friends, couples, and families seeking exciting,
meaningful experiences, with a host of remarkable events lined up for the next
few months.
Typically a must-play
destination for any artist embarking on a world tour, Singapore has
played host to chart-topping superstars, the coolest DJs, and
up-and-coming indie bands alike, luring music fans from across the world to its
shores. This last quarter of the year will allow music enthusiasts and
fans to see instrumental rock guitar music legend, Joe Satriani, live in his
only Asian stop at Joe Satriani’s 2014
World Tour Concert (November 13, 2014); witness a diverse line up of
artists at Skechers Sundown
Festival 2014 (November 22, 2014), an iconic music festival which brings
Asian artists and fans onto a singular platform; and party from dusk till dawn
at Asia’s only sunrise beach festival, the two-day ZoukOut Singapore: A Dance Music Festival (December 12-13, 2014), which
is now in its 14th year. For music in a more intimate setting, catch
various local artists such as Jack &
Rai, Vandetta, Blues Machine or Goodfellas at live music bars like the Wala Wala Café Bar, Hood Bar & Café or Timbre@The Substation for a truly
immersive Singapore experience.
You can also choose to spend the night
sampling creatively delightful cocktails crafted by award-winning mixologists
such as Peter Chua of 28 Hong Kong
Street, Jeff Ho of Jekyll & Hyde
and Ethan Leslie Leong of Maison Ikkoku,
or explore the exclusive speakeasies such as the password-protected, The Library; the unassuming
basement-level location of B28, and
the hidden bar serving unique American craft spirits, The Secret Mermaid. Want to party hundreds of feet in the
air? Then head over to one of the city’s wildly popular rooftop bars like Loof, Lantern, or 1-Altitude,
which towers over the city at a full 282 meters.
Taking in
the vibrant performing and visual arts scene should also be on the list
when you visit Singapore. Exhibitions from both local and international
artists abound in the numerous galleries that pepper the city, while hit
plays and musicals are top-billed for theater enthusiasts. Show
producer LA Comedy Live has helped turn Singapore into
a viable option for fans of stand-up comedy with its roster
of stadium-filling comics and sold-out shows that
offer nights of bellyaching laughter, one of which is British comic, actor
and musician Bill Bailey’s Limboland
(November 17, 2014), which marks the world premiere of his brand new live show.
Resorts World Sentosa™ will also be offering a fantastic line-up of hit shows
and musicals for the whole family including the Filipino-produced Priscilla:
Queen of the Desert (October 16-26, 2014) and the classic Peter
Pan, The Never Ending Story (November
27, 2014 - January 20, 2015).
Teeming with places to explore and
experiences to remember, Singapore will bring something new to even the
most experienced traveller. So book a ticket, pack your bags, open your mind,
and get ready to experience where the world is heading. It just might be your
best weekend ever.
Fantastic right?! Hmm… and I am very
much hopeful that the trip will push thru. Crossing fingers here or if there’s
a Good Samaritan out there to sponsor my airfare, please I would gladly accept
it as a Christmas present. Ha-ha.

He certainly is a master mixologist. The drink almost looks too pretty to actually sip on. :] // ▲ itsCarmen.com ▲
