"Good things come to
people who wait, but better things come to those who go out and get them."
– Anonymous
Right! … because better things need to be discovered and get them. It is rewarding when you exert your best effort on having and getting them. I assure you nothing beats the fulfillment afterwards. That’s why in one rainy afternoon, where the rain pours straight for hours which would cause floods around the metro, no one can stop me on going to a sumptuous feast brought to us, with my fellow bloggers, by RECIPES Specialties and Sweets.
RECIPES Specialties and Sweets
RECIPES has been in the business for 15 years which was started in 2000. Thus, serving a delectable Filipino dishes which are prepared from the finest ingredients and lots of love is no longer questionable. They’re consistently giving a great taste that would leave marks on every diner’s taste buds. Something that you would remember and always crave for.
With that said, let me share with you my splendid dining experience way perfect for family get together, most specially if you have a balikbayan relatives. I assure you, they’ll love all the Filipino foods that can be found on their menu. So, let’s get started, shall we?
Kare-Kare with Oxtail and Tripe
Kare-Kare with Oxtail and Tripe. My favorite! A comfort food and the star of our dining table. The oxtail and tripe were so tender and you can really taste that only fresh vegetables were being used. Plus, the bagoong paired tasted so good (I even asked for refill! Ha-ha) which was way perfect for the thick and creamy peanut sauce of kare-kare.
Gising-gising
Gising-gising. Perfect for the cold weather we had that time. It is a bit spicy vegetable dish made of Baguio beans with ground pork and coconut milk and chili for an added spice. It is best paired with fried fish.
Crispy Tilapia
Crispy Tilapia. Is it amazing to eat a boneless fried tilapia, right? Well, how if it is crispy and flavorful? Ahhh… heaven. By the way, crispy tilapia blends well with gising-gising. Perfect combo!
General’s Chicken
General’s Chicken. A bit sweet and spicy yet flavorful chicken fillet, which is soft and tender, with eggplant slices. It is a must to those who loves to eat chicken.
Green Mango Shake
I would love to eat more but as what they say, always leave room for desserts. For me, desserts should always be present in every meal. It makes your dining experience or meal-time a wonderful one. I can’t think of exact word to further explain it but it will be the deciding factor whether you have a meal with great satisfaction or not. Meanwhile, the newly-opened RECIPES Specialties and Sweets in 8 Missouri Street, Greenhills, San Juan is the only RECIPES restaurant that offers freshly baked pastries, cakes, and cookies such as Barako Brownie, Red Velvet Cupcake and Calamansi Tart, among others.
Cookies
Red Velvet Truffle Cupcakes
One of the must try desserts is the Barako Brownie, a bittersweet brownie that has a mixed of Kapeng Barako served with vanilla sauce to balance the taste.
Hot Cappuccino and Calamansi Tart
There’s also a Calamansi Tart which one of my favorites from the RECIPES Specialties and Sweets’ desserts. It tastes sour, salty and sweet but the taste blended well. Good to paired with a cup of hot coffee.

To sum it all, I got a full tummy and fully satisfied with what I ate. Every dish has its own character that is worth for a second, third, fourth, nth round and for an extra rice. RECIPES Specilaties and Sweets made it even better that would surely make us, customers, come back for more.
