Whenever I am traveling to a place for the first time, I
see to it that everything is well-planned, because 1) I want to make sure that
I able to see and visit beautiful sceneries that a certain place offers 2) make
the best out of my travel so I can share more stories to my friends and loved
ones, and 3) a hassle-free vacation so I can enjoy almost everything. So, with
this Taiwan trip, I am glad that I was able to travel with people dear to me
who shares the same vision.
It’s
been almost two months when we got to finalize everything, it was quite
challenging though in terms of creating and deciding which place to visit first
because we were consist of five people travelling with different day and time
arrival, my friend and travel buddy Effie and I
were the first ones to arrive in Taiwan. But of course, having people who have itchy
feet like me, we always end up making our trip wonderful with lots of fun and
even dramas in between and more discoveries worth to laugh at and to be shared.
Meanwhile, my first on the list of my “must visit when in Taiwan” was the Houli Flower Farm in Taichung and since everyone also wanted to see that beautiful farm we decided to do a do-it-yourself trip in Taichung when everyone arrives and with that, I decided to go first in Taichung to check the weather and see if it is a good season to visit the flower farm. And voila, I booked a "Day Tour from Taipei: Taichung Gaomei Wetlands and Rainbow Village” tour via KKday. KKday is the leading e-commerce travel platform that provides authentic local tours and activities that aims to provide an unforgettable journey by providing an easy to find activity or best places to visit which caters Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, Paris and many more, of course they also offer tours and activities in Philippines. What I liked about it was that, booking was easy-breezy and tours were cheaper and affordable. Check it out here and see for yourself.

Moving on to our trip, Day Tour
from Taipei: Taichung Gaomei Wetlands and Rainbow Village was a day tour from Taipei to Taichung (as
the name of the tour implied). It was an almost 12-hour trip with KKday. We
started our day by meeting KKday tour guide and everyone at 7 Eleven inside Taipei
Main Station Exit E1, which was easy to locate and KKday representative was also
easy to identify. We just showed our booking reference wait for clock to ticked
at 9 o’clock and then, we headed to the bus designated to us. Guys, they’re punctual
so make sure to arrive 10-15 minutes before the call time, take note of your
line or number and who your tour guide is because they’re might be numerous
tours during that day, so it is better to be attentive.

Eslite Park Lane by CMP Store
Travel time from Taipei to Taichung is 2 hours, that’s why I was able to took in between naps while our joyful tour guide, Meike, explains our itinerary and some facts about places that we’ve visited in different languages – English, Mandarin and even Nihongo. Taichung is one of the places in Taiwan that people wanted to live because the weather is not too hot nor too cold. Our first stop, Eslite Park Lane by CMP Store, I was amazed of how developed this place is by having high-rise buildings, malls and houses beautiful cafes. Eslite Park Lane by CMP store has this 20-meter vertical garden walls and inside of it, you can find the best-tasting pastries called Milkhouses. The cakes and pastries were colorful and pretty, yes, they were yummy, too! In addition, the building was renovated from an abandoned parking lot by the CMP team having an intention to integrate greeneries to the architecture. Based on a sense of respect to nature, Park Lane by CMP is designed to be an urban garden where modernity and nature coexist.

Miyahara
After an hour or so, we headed to Miyahara. It is a red-brick architecture built by Miyahara Takeo, a Japanese ophthalmology in 1927. It was the largest ophthalmology clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. Miyahara became Taichung Health Bureau in 1945 and as time passed by, the suspended Health Bureau slowly decayed and became an unused dangerous building. As luck would have it, Dawn Cake, a pastry company renowned for its pineapple cakes, acquired the building and preserved Miyahara's original red-brick walls and archway. The interior decor was redesigned like Hogwarts in the movie Harry Potter. It is not only recommended to appreciate the details of the historic architecture but also to try Dawn Cake’s signature ice cream, bubble tea and pastries wrapped in nostalgic packaging! Well, I tried their 2-scoop ice cream that comes with 2 free toppings for NT$150 and it tastes great!

National Taichung Theater
Next stop was the National Taichung Theater, an opera house in the Taichung 7th Redevelopment Zone in the Xitun District. It was huge, as the estimated area of the structure was 57, 685 square meters. At the rooftop, there are architectures that are Instagram-worthy plus, beautiful backdrops around.

Gao-mei Wetlands
Just in time for sunset, Gao-mei Wetlands was the best place to watch the sun set which was also our last stop. Well, Gaomei Wetlands is the place in Taichung where the sea and the land meet, it is a grassy and muddy tidal flat with windmills on the backdrop. Basically, I just spend my time here watching the sunset and appreciating the place with my milk tea at the boardwalk. This place was pretty amazing especially to sunset lovers.
