amba Taipei Ximending Hotel: Hip and Fun Stay in Taiwan

My spontaneous travel to Taiwan in October last year was full of adventure, excitement, fun and yet relaxing and comfy. Thank you to amba Taipei Ximending Hotel as it offered nothing but the best services that surpassed the usual boutique hotel offerings. I can still vividly recall how awesome and happy I’ve been as soon as I entered the hotel’s vicinity. So yeah, even though the trip was unplanned, I see to it that I still have the best accommodation in Taipei and looking for where to stay in Taiwan bids cleanliness, comfort and the best of all, accessibility. Well, amba stands for ambassador and it’s great to know that it really has the characteristic to be called as that because, as soon as I step foot within hotel's area, I had a colorful and exciting glimpsed of what Taipei has to offer for its foreign visitors. amba Taipei Ximending Hotel is located at Wanhua District, above Eslite Wuchang shopping complex in Ximending, Western Taipei, junction of Wuchang Street and Kunming Street, a hotel that is 5-minute walk from MRT Ximen Station. Knowing I was that close to the gateway of discovering great places, I am sure that I was in for a good deal!

Aside from being busy and colorful street, Ximending was a shopping and milk tea haven for me as some of my favorite apparel and beauty brands were easily accessible, it was like a neighborhood from where I stay that I could even shopped wearing my comfy flip-flops from the hotel and as late as 2 in the morning, I could go out and have a sumptuous meal. Of course, convenience store that were open for 24 hours were also present. Thus, I together with my friends, could easily buy something any time of the day or night. 

So staying at amba Taipei Ximending Hotel really means accessibility and comfort while discovering places and trying new experiences. 

The "Loft Room" 

Since we're a group of four, we had the Loft Room that perfectly fits four persons, the room had 2 single beds and 2 sofa beds. It was also arranged already so as soon as we entered on our room, everything was setup according to booked guests and in order. Despite the number of persons staying in the room, still, it looks spacious and roomy to roam around. The pillows and sheets allotted were also more than enough for us - it's soft and kept me warm at night, the toiletries, the slippers (that you can take home, yes you can!), and welcome refreshments were for a treat! And what stands out for me were the toiletries, they're offering organic body lotion, and shampoo and conditioners that really works! I'm loving those that I can't help it but used it right there and then, the smell was soothing and very pleasant to my nose. Gee... I love those! How I wish I have plenty of supply so I could take them home.

And here's more, for those who wanted for a lazy day and just wanted a movie marathon or the likes, you could binge-watch at Netflix. That's right, folks! A Netflix with a premium account was already on for you to catch up on your favorite series. I remembered during our idle time (after all the walks and milk-tea-ing), we just stayed at our room and watched "For all the boys I Loved Before" that was a hit then so even though I already watched it, I still indulged watching it with my friends and more movies as we capped off our day full of adventure.

It has a separate bath and toilet rooms, of course, with a hot shower and the toilet comes with a heated seat, so yeah, even though you're travelling during winter or cold season, you can still feel the warmth. So, it's always a home-y place to came after a long day of exploring places in Taiwan and at the same time, waking me up to a very good start of the day.

The Food at chiBa Restaurant

Whenever I travel, I always look forward for breakfast. It's the important meal of the day so I ensure that I will have delicious meal to make my day blossom and cope up with my day's itinerary. At amba Taipei Ximending Hotel, chiba restaurant and tingba Music Lounge are located at the 5th level of the hotel, where the lobby and creative space are, and offers a buffet breakfast. Composed of western-influenced dishes and Taiwan cuisines, breakfast at Chiba Restaurant was something I always look forward for during my 3-days stay. chiba is a combined reference to the hotel name and the Chinese phrase ‘chi’, which means ‘to eat’. It is a lively restaurant that features an open kitchen filled with fresh produce ingredients. Also, it displays collectibles, memorabilia or souvenirs, books to keep you company while waiting for your palatable meal and even organic herb plants. As for the star of every buffet, yes - they had bacon, also pasta, salads, fruits, and many more! In addition, you may opt to choose from great selection of Detroit-style square pizza, steaks and even seafood dishes.

When I say it taste great, it really is! Why? Because not only during breakfast, we also got to dine at lunch. We’re able to try the “Meat Lovers Combo,” it’s a must-try! “Detroit-Style Square Pizza Sicilian Butcher’s Pepperoni,” “Strawberry Salad,” and freshly squeezed fruit juices or soda. Had fun dining at their ala-picnic-style dinner while serenaded with good music, too! So yeah, eating could be your favorite past time if you decided to do nothing but just stay at amba Taipei Ximending Hotel.

The Amenities (with FREE Laundry!)

An easy access to Eslite Shopping Center that houses Nike, Adidas, PUMA, MUJI Store, Starbucks, M.A.C., Paul Frank, Viviene Westwood and more. I warn you, it’s a shopping haven within reach. At the 6^th floor, the Music-themed guestroom is located and the FREE self-service laundry equipped with soap, fabric conditioner and anything you need for your laundry. So yeah, no need to worry if you packing light and need to repeat clothes. Absolutely, you can wear them again but this time it’s clean and fragrant.

What I can say - the verdict?

I liked and loved my stay at amba Taipei Ximending Hotel and I highly suggest staying here if you want a hassle-free accommodation. The foods were great, it’s a two thumbs-up for me from breakfast to dinner. The service was a top-notched, the staffs are approachable, friendly and willing to help whenever needed.  It is a value for money, indeed! Overall experience was awesome, fun and the location is very convenient, it is strategically located at the heart of Ximending. It is way suited for young professional or nomads in style that wanted both leisure and luxury within the budget. Needless to say, it is way perfect for everyone most especially if it is your first time in Taiwan, specifically in Taipei.

Good to know for a hassle-FREE stay!

A deposit of NTD$ 2,000 will be needed upon check-in, credit card will do, kindly keep that noted to avoid any inconvenience. Check-in time is at 3:00PM but if you arrived early, they will allow early check-in upon availability and if not, you can leave your things or luggage and advise them to place it on your room once available. Passport will be needed, too, upon check-in, for identification. Slippers are for take home. Hair iron is also available upon request. If it is raining, you can borrow umbrella. At night, the neighborhood is so lively and upbeat so you can go outside and have a walk. Street foods in the food cart are within the area.
