Intramuros more of its historic identity and contribution to the Philippine history, it has a lot more to offer and as an addition to its character as the Philippine kicks off the National Heritage Month celebration this month of May, the Department of Tourism (DoT) invites everyone to explore and learn Philippine culture and history by visiting Museo de Intramuros. Admission is FREE starting today, May 2, 2019 and it opens from Tuesdays to Fridays; 9:00AM to 5:00AM.

Museo de Intramuros, managed by the Intramuros Administration, is located in two important reconstructions inside the walled city: The San Ignacio Church and the Mission House of the Society of Jesus. The museum is envisioned to house the period of art collections of Intramuros Administration that includes ecclesiastical art, furniture, vestments and textiles, and other artifacts.

Currently, the museum has three floors that in-houses exhibition that presents the story of the evangelization of the Philippines from the perspective of the Filipinos. It explores changes in the “Filipino” psyche as colonization introducing a new religion and culture to the natives.

More so, it highlights Filipino artistry and craftsmanship that was a result of the merging of the indigenous and the foreign, in the form of religious images belonging to the Intramuros Administration’s collection.
And here’s more reasons why you need to visit Museo de Intramuros, the exhibition has six components that would surely entice your curiosity about religions and the Filipino years ago: 1) The Immaculate Conception, 2) The Religious Order, 3) The Patronato Real and the establishment of Parishes, 4) Religious Colonial Paintings, 5) The establishment of a parish and sacred vessels, 6) The Indio Response.
While on 3rd floor, you will see the miniatures of churches within Intramuros as well as original copy of the blueprint. Yeah, there’s more to learn and discover at Museo de Intramuros.
