It
was already a week ago since I came back from my trip in South Korea. Also, the
first time I experienced autumn. 😊 Well, I was delighted by its
colorful sorrounding plus the cold weather that I plan to go back during that fall
season again next year or perhaps another place that has an autumn season. During
pre-work, one of the must-to-do-must-try on the list was to experience wearing
Hanbok. A Hanbok (in South Korea) is a traditional Korean dress for semi-formal
or formal attire during traditional occasions such festivals and ceremonies. It
has vibrant colors and simple lines without pockets.

Roaming around at Gyeongbokgung Palace |
Based
on our itinerary, Day 1 will be spent at Gyeongbokgung Palace to roam
around and watch Sumunjang (Royal Guard) Changing Ceremony so might as
well wear the traditional clothing during the Joseon dynasty period. 😉

After
the ceremony, Sumungun (Gatekeeper) Costume Experience is
available for free. Hanbok rentals are just across the palace with many designs
to choose from. Hanbok rental fee for 2 hours is at 9,000KRW (~Php400) that
comes with a FREE entrance to the other side of the palace. The first step is
to choose the skirt and then the blouse that you want to pair. Skirts and
blouses are arranged by size. I was looking for something pink or gold. Basically,
I don’t spend much time in choosing what to wear as long as it caught my
attention, I’m good and it also applies the way I shop for my clothes. Right,
this one was an easy task for me because I already have my preferences. An
additional of 5,000KRW (~Php225) if you opted for hairstyling but since my hair
is too short, they just lent me an accessory.

After we dressed in full
traditional Korean clothing, we went back to Gyeongbokgung Palace and
explore the area on our hanbok. It’s fun and nice experience though as it looks
like we were on Korean TV drama.
