As much as possible, I wanted
my travels to be spontaneous and random, so it won’t spoil the excitement and
be surprise of what the place has to offer; and be amazed with the experiences
I am about to discover. Though, there is a connotation that a getaway is costly
when it is not thoroughly planned. True. And. False. True – if the option is
very limited and an impromptu trip to a very remote area with no proper planning
is costly – transportation, accommodation and food are some of the factors that
needs to be considered when traveling in suburb areas. False – simply because traveling spontaneously
doesn’t need to be costly at all if you have tons of option to choose from, especially
having a booking site that caters almost every kind of transportation so that one
can easily spot the cheapest fare. I’m so glad to know PH Bus (www.phbus.com), since
then, it’s always my go-to booking site whenever an impromptu trip is coming my
way. It’s easy to navigate and quick to spot cheapest fare.

Boracay Island 2020 |
With that, I started the year
2020 with a very spontaneous travel in one of my all-time favorite islands –
Boracay Island. I, together with my friends, spent the first weekend of the
year in Boracay Island. Since I tried already going to this island via ferry and
airfare was quite expensive due to holiday which means peak season, so the only
option for us was a ferry ride from Batangas to Caticlan and voila… we got a
one-way ticket per person for only Php980.00
for a Reclining Seat (similar to bus’s seat) but since I was too tired and
wanted to sleep while sailing, I opted for the Tourist Bunk Bed which was
priced at Php1,500.00 – air-conditioned
area, with free meal and can use linen for free …and way comfortable.
Batangas Port. Can you spot the Starlite Ferries? |
We chose the daytrip with Starlite Ferries for us to enjoy the
scenery as we sail to Caticlan, however, I was too sleepy and too tired that
even it was quite a bumpy ride at first, I fell asleep. We boarded 30 minutes
prior to scheduled time but the ferry left the port an hour and a half after thus,
the supposedly 9 hours travel time became 11 hours. It was around 6:30PM when
we arrived at Caticlan port. But nevertheless, we enjoyed the sunset while onboard.
That’s the perks of traveling with friends or with companions (since I haven’t
done solo yet) – you find ways to enjoy each
other’s company no matter what.
