A
year wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Boracay Island. It is always my
go-to destination whenever I wanted to escape from the chaos in Metro Manila or
just wanted a quick and yet sweet vacay. Boracay is one of my favorite islands that
I wouldn’t mind travelling frequently. Well, every visit was a indeed a sweet
escape whether with family, friends or loved ones. So, this year 2020 – I, together
with my friends, welcomed the year with an over-the-weekend getaway in paradise!
At the first weekend of the year, we went to Boracay Island – chilled, relaxed
and had an awesome weekend trip by doing nothing but ate sumptuous foods with a
great view of cerulean bliss. The weather was not good though because it’s been
raining at night and early in the morning and sometimes in the middle of the day, but who
cares – it was a vacation that I was looking forward.
Going to the island is easy-peasy as there are a lot of options to choose from – you can a book a flight to either Kalibo (2 hours away from Cagban Jetty Port in Caticlan) or fly directly to Caticlan Airport, if budget is a little concern then you can opt to choose to go there via ferry. I already tried both and the recent one was via ferry, for booking instruction and what to expect – read it here.

Meanwhile, if a vacation is more of doing nothing, meaning no itinerary, no plans but just go with what we decided at the moment, I always wanted for a comfortable accommodation with a homey ambiance where I don’t mind sleeping… almost all the time. 😊 Also, we need to be consider that we are a group of 5 that quite clingy to one another and thus, we need to fit in one room. Upon searching for the right accommodation for us, I came across to this newly-renovated Kamusta Boutique Hotel located in Station 1, Main Road and just across my ever-favorite banana peanut shake sold by Jonah’s Shake. You cannot miss this boutique hotel as it is situated near D’Mall and surrounded by 24/7 convenience store, laundry shop, bakery, among others. Even though it is located along the main road, white beach is just 3-minutes’ walk away from the hotel.
The Grouppie Room
We
had the Grouppie Room that has 3 bunk beds which is good for 6 persons. The
room is tidy and clean and so are the beds and sheets. I liked that there were extra
pillows that were soft and smells good – having an extra and fragrant pillows
is a thumbs up for me because it already connotes a comfortable and sound
sleep. I love to snuggle under a warm sheets and yes, I was impressed on how they
customized the beds for added coziness. Surprisingly, despite the number of
persons staying in it, we can still moved
around even though there were luggage and some things were scattered on the
floor. Kamusta Boutique Hotel also provided a basket (or bayong in Tagalog)
with beach towels that we used while on the beach – well, extra amenities and
personal touches like this really matters. Imagine, we no longer need to ask
for a beach towels and we already had a basket for the things that we brought while
chilling by the beach.

Kamusta Boutique Hotel is also eco-friendly! They provided a glass bottled water with cute design and is refillable. We already saved money for water since we just refilled the bottle once empty. There was a complimentary coffee, a mini-refrigerator, electric kettle and cups. Shampoo and bath gels were also put into a refillable container mounted to the bath wall; toiletries such toothbrush with toothpaste were also provided. The bathroom is clean and spacious.

If you love reading before sleeping, there’s a reading light installed on each bed and right next to it, is a socket where you can plug your gadgets – one of the very important thoughtful touches that I look for, especially that we were in a group thus, everyone has its own gadgets and devices to charge and having our own, accessible socket was a big plus for us because we need not to wait for someone to finish charging, we did that at the same time. By the way, our Grouppie room, which is minimalist and yet modern has balcony, too. 😊 It is also equipped with hairdryer, clothes hangers, telephone, water heater and LED TV with cable channels.
The Food & Dining
Our stay
comes with a complimentary breakfast and the restaurant located downstairs is
quite small and can only accommodated I think 20-25 persons at a time if seats
are being maximized yet cozy and chic. Nevertheless, I was surprised of how
flavorful their food was, for breakfast they are offering a Filipino-style breakfast
such as Longsilog, Tapsilog and Cornsilog; Pancake is also available. I had Longganisa
on the first morning, Tapa on the second day and the two were equally delicious.
It comes with either a brewed coffee or iced tea depending on your preference,
by the way.

At dinner, we didn’t know that we were up for a delectable fares! We had Roasted Eggplant Salsa (₱120), Buttered Shrimp, Prawns in Pumpkin, Grilled Pork (Liempo) and the Twice Cooked Chicken Adobo (₱375). Everything tasted good that it boosted my appetite and me ended to a 2 cups of rice, so definitely it was a cheat day! Twice Cooked Chicken Adobo was highly recommended! The last supper in Boracay Island was really superb! I was very full and every dish was mouth-watering and smells yummy. Gee… I am now craving for those as I write this blog. So, forget about the diet and dig in on its savory menus. I warned you!

I
would suggest though that even you are not staying at Kamusta Boutique Hotel, you
should try eating there. They have an in-house chef that really cooks sumptuous
meal, it is really worth visiting and trying! Walk-ins are welcome to dine.
