Supposedly, I will be having ramen and some kind of Japanese food today but for some reason, things didn’t go well as planned but anyhow, I have some Japan memories that worth remembering. And to add, my Japan trip sometime last year (2019) was all about ramen, discovering and exploring places within Tokyo to satisfy, together with my friends, our itchy feet. Cold weather plus a bowl of a hot ramen perfectly fits for a cuddle weather, right?! Oh well, how I wish, I could enjoy winter this year – though, it is quite far from reality – I’ve got some photos where I can instantly transport wherever it was taken from and there, reminisce all the adventures and mishaps along the way. But one thing is for sure, it was an all-out fun.
An afternoon stroll at Ueno Park & Zoo |
What good about being spontaneous or I’d rather say, no
itinerary, well, at least for me, there’s no too much hope and expectation and
with that, I can just go places and experience things with an awe and be
surprise on what I am able to see as the universe presented its beauty to my
very eyes. So, after we chilled and did people watching at Tokyo’s busiest Sibuya Crossing while I was enjoying my Caramel Macchiato that cooled quickly
under a quite snowy weather, we headed to Ueno Park for temples and shrines and
then headed to Ueno Zoo to see pandas. 😊

Today Ueno Park is famous for the many museums found on its
grounds, especially the Tokyo National Museum, the National
Museum for Western Art, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and
the National Science Museum. Temples and Shrines such as Keneiji
Temple, Kiyomizu Kannon Temple, Toshogu Shrine, Bentendo, among others and the
best part, admission is free. It is also home to Ueno Zoo, Japan's first zoological garden.

Ueno Zoo
I first saw a panda when I went to Taipei Zoo and I was so
fascinated on how cute they were. Since then, if a zoo with panda in it is can
be found in one place then I’d rather pay them a visit. Gladly, my friends are
ever-supportive on what I wanted to see – even though they are not into it. I guess
that is the secret of a fun and remarkable trip – the people who you are with.
So, thank you for being so patient with me, loves!
Moving on, Ueno Zoo is Japan's oldest zoo, opened in 1882. Its most popular residents are giant panda bears which had a long line during our visit. Quite disappointed though because you have to move fast that we can’t even take proper photos due to number of people lining up. I must say, might as well enjoy the moment and be sure to catch them before they move and go away – it just so happens that they were walking and moving away. Prepare a JPY600 as an entrance fee for adults though.
After that, we wandered around the area and had an interesting know-how about some animals. And by the way, they got polar bears! And just like that, the zoo was about to close already and call it a day.
As what we always do – we had our ramen at Ichiran to combat the freaking coldness. Fun times, indeed.
How to get there?
Ueno Park is just next to JR Ueno Station. Easiest access is provided by the station's "Park Exit".
